A Sweet Memory

The recipe for this Sour Cream Pound Cake came from a childhood friend's mother, teenhood actually. My friend Myra's mom, Ms. Twylah, gave me the recipe a long time ago. She was the sweetest lady I've ever known. She was always genuinely happy to see me, arms open wide with a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. She was that way with everybody and everybody loved her.

There was always something sweet to eat sitting on her counter. Cake, cookies or candy was always there to offer to the many friends and relatives that would stop by. Myra and I certainly didn't hesitate to help ourselves to the goodies. Mr. Russell, Myra's dad, surely enjoyed it too, although I think it was there mostly for him to begin with.

Everytime I make this cake I think of Ms. Twylah. As I recall, she made a blueberry sauce to go with it, which was wonderful. Topped with blueberry sauce, peaches and cream or just plain, it never fails to be delicious.

A very sweet memory, indeed.

  2. Hello! My name is Robin. I was doing something I rarely do anymore, bloghopping and found your site today.

That sounds absolutely delicous! Will you post the recipe possibly please? :) It looks like something that I'd like to make with my girlies, as I call my two daughters. I home educate them and this would be a joy to teach them (and myself) to make.

    Have a fabulous day, Robin
