Strange Behavior

Strange behavior happens each and every year when the weather makes it's transformation from summer to fall here in southern Arkansas. Camo clad men in pick up trucks pulling trailers loaded with the makings of high-rise platforms and small woodland gardens, wildlife fodder and a no-holds barred way of getting through rugged terrain.

Hunt Club societies pitted one against another, closely guard their territories with heavy gates, 'No Trespassing' signs and sundry other measures to thwart rivals from getting 'the big one' that should be theirs.

The mighty hunter is on the move, it's in his blood, he can't help it. It's almost deer season and preparations are the order of the day.

The hope of getting that colossal 18-point buck is on the wish list of every hunter around these parts. And I say may divine intervention bless them all!

  1. I just love deer! Aren't they so graceful and beautiful? I watch them through the scope on Josh's shotgun throughout the year and can't get over how in a liquid flash go from calm grazing to eight foot leap. Amazing.

    Blessings!

  2. Deer are beautiful indeed. I know alot of folks look at their beauty and don't want to think about the benefit of them being a source of food for us. My husband hunts to provide food for us that will last throughout the year and we are indeed thankful for the provision God has given us.

  3. Josh hunts, too. I don't mind it at all. We eat the meat and enjoy it.

    Blessings!

  4. Lacy, I figured Josh must hunt since you're looking at deer through the scope of his gun! I envisioned you doing that, and thought how funny it was. I picture you and Josh hunting and you've got your gun sited on a deer and then you turn to Josh telling him about how beautiful the deer is.

I do have a difficult time seeing them when someone comes back with one because they are so beautiful. It's truly a sacrifice in a sense. Very humbling to think about it in that way.
